Answers:
Is a naked bike similar to a sports bike?
i havent crashed...yet. and yet being the operative word. i try not to get myself in that kind of a jam by riding on the conservative side on an unfamiliar road, and i absolutely do not trust cager's any more than i could throw them. the only thing i do basically count on is...for them to do the wrong thing at the wrong time; so i ride as if i would have to slam on the brakes in a split second at any time. i realize i cant afford a mistake. What motorcycle is better?Honda CBR 600 RR or Yamaha R6?
I was riding my bike on a gravel road. I braked hard with the front brake to avoid a chug hole. When I touched the brake the bike went down and I suffered multiple scrapes and abrasions. I learned to not use the front brake on any unstable surface like gravel, mud, or wet road, and that braking with the rear needed to be light as well. What is considered high and low mileage for a motorcycle?
Which time?Well I'll tell you about "the big one". I was hit head on by a 1962 Buick Skylark station wagon.
Broken femur and tibia left leg, My right ankle pretty well exploded ,the E.R docs wanted to amputate,(I said no figuring I may need it later) . Both thumbs broken at the wrist and the misc. road rash you would assume goes along with doing a forward lay out over a Buick at 40 mph.
The guy driving the wagon was anxious to get out of the driveway he was exiting ,punched it , slid and drifted over the line,I almost missed him but he corrected out of his slide and nailed me. I really don't think I could have done anything differently to avoid it, I tried to take evasive action but his moves were unpredictable.
What I learned, Trust no one on the road, try to expect the unexpected, keep your eye on a hole shot, when in doubt gas it,and if you ride you will go down, it's just a matter of when and how bad.
I swore for almost a week I'd never ride again, but I ended up buying a new better bike while I was still being held together by plaster ,fiberglass and tape, I'll be damned if some little Buick will stop me from riding.
Can anyone tell me where I can find suzuki gs125 spares?
I was brake checked by a left-footed driver. You know, the ones that "rest" their left foot on the brake so you can't actually tell when they're slowing down? She made a mistake, slammed on her brakes, and hit the SUV in front of her. I was caught by surprise, braked as hard as I could, and tried to split the lane. I almost made it, but caught the corner of her bumper and flew over her car.
Why do my harley davidsons pipes glow orange?
I have learned that everyone should learn to drive a manual transmission so they NEVER get the habit of left-foot braking.
Is it legal to wear a motorcycle helmet with giant horns on it from a bull?
I have learned that even at 45mph, stuff comes at you FAST!
What does the derby cover go on!? yep im a woman and blonde!?
I have learned that you're lucky to break even on your bike with any insurance company, and that a SCRATCH on either the frame or fork will "total" it.
I have a 97 883 Sportster. Under fuel tank, right side, rear-ish, a hose is coming out?
The most important thing I learned is that GEAR WORKS! I was wearing FULL gear, and was able to walk away from totaling my bike (well, it was kind of a limp). I never felt the impact, missed one day of work, and suffered NO permanent damage.
How much should i sell my Honda XR250 1993 model for??
I was leaving a pay parking lot, the kind with the gate. I pulled off the sensor pad beforwe the gate was all of the way up, and when i pulled through, the gate slammed back down, catching me across the neck, the original clothesline. When I was being yanked off the bike, in an atempt to hold on, my wrist went down, gassing it, and I couldnt grab the clutch. After a left-right-left wobble, I actually saved the scooter, but busted the gate, which was a 1x6 with a SMALL amount of padding. The parking attendant wanted to hold me liable for the damages, but a doctor at the hospital I was leaving witnessed the ordeal and came running. What i learned is obvious, go AROUND the gate to the outside. How do i get my parents to let me get a dirt bike?
I Live in Alaska So are roads Kinda suck for starters, But anyways I Ride a 2003 Yamaha Fz1000 I had just pulled out of a gas station and got on it a little bit. And there was a pile of sand or gravel in the road and it kicked my rear end out from under me, next thing i knew I was sliding into the ditch on my arm. Anyways I had to go pick my new bike up out of the road ride it home with my arm all torn up and bent bars and it also trashed my new Yoshi Pipe. So It taught me to break in my tires, Watch the road close around driveways and pull outs, and I also have a little more respect for the throttle.I've had a few near misses over the years, always the other guy's fault and always ones I was always able to avoid thanks to the great MSF training I had. The one crash I had was totally my fault for being inattentive - no one else was even in sight.
I need to import a harley, can anybody help me ?
I had some work-related problems that my mind was spinning furiously on, but it was Sunday morning and I wanted to forget about them for a while, so I went for a morning motorcycle ride. But my mind kept plowing away on work as I rode, and I just wasn't paying attention to my riding. I was on an unfamiliar wooded, winding, hilly, two-lane country road. I zipped up a steep hill at a conservative 55 mph, right past a sign that showed a sharp left turn ahead and a 25 mph speed limit. Sure enough, at the top of the hill was a sharp left turn. I ran off the road into the ditch, unable to turn swiftly enough to stay on the road. For a moment I thought I was going to be OK; I steered the bike back up the fairly steep ditch and almost onto the road, but just before reaching the road there was a deep rut where a truck had also gone off the road. It flipped the bike, the bike landed on me, and we slid a little ways.
Sometimes in emergencies, with the adrenaline pumping, you're stronger than you realize. I pushed the bike off me, got up, hand-straightened the handlebars and totally wasted rear foot brake lever, set the bike up, and rode home slowly.
Any information about the ZZR 600?
No bad injuries - my helmet had saved my head. I was bruised, sprained, bleeding and very sore, but I cleaned up, slept, and hobbled in to work the next day. I took the bike to a shop for repair the next week-end, and was riding again a week after that.
Why do you have to go through an extra step with motorcycle batteries?
What did I learn? Not to be so stupid! I already knew you shouldn't ride unless your mind is clear and you can concentrate on your riding. I haven't forgotten again!
What experiment in Vietnam occurred with US GI's concerning Honda and Harley Motorcycles?
I've had two. The fist was the day I got my first bike, a 1980 Honda CB400T. I'd never ridden before and had the bike delivered to my home. The delivery guy unloaded it onto the street in front of my house and was preparing to drive away and I couldn't even wait till he was gone before hopping on and starting the engine. I was just going to pull it into my driveway. I gave it a little too much throttle and it took off on me. I held tight and in the process, I twisted the throttle some more. I rammed it into the retaining wall that edges my driveway, and went flying over the bars. I scraped my left arm some and the bike got a dent in the tank. That was mile zero. How to drive to get maximum mileage in Yamaha RX135?
The next time was early in may and a lovely day. I went for a quick ride after work (same bike). I entered a sharp lefthand curve at about 60 kph, leaning quite a bit. When I laid on some throttle to pull me out of the turn, the rear end just flew out from under me. It was springtime and that road had not been swept yet. The winter sand and grit was my undoing. The bike went sliding into the curb and bounced into the air. I went sliding on my left shoulder and came to a stop on the other side of the road. Severe road rash and what felt like a dislocated shoulder prevented me from lifting the bike up. A concerned motorist helped me to pick it up and bend the shifter into position so it wouldn't jam on the crankcase. I climbed aboard, used mt right hand to lift my left hand onto the handle bar and drove to the ER. Luckily my shoulder was not dislocated, just bruised. Some topical Lidocaine and a good scrubbing took care of the road rash.
I've managed to keep the shiny side up since then, about eight years now.
What is the first year that Kawasaki came out with the Ninja ZX14?
Those mishaps were due to inexperience. As a new rider, I was fearless until I got hurt. Now I pay close attention to the road ahead and ride according to the conditions. I also make sure I am completely familiar with any bike I intend to ride.
