+s: less unsprung weight, look pretty, don't rust, tubeless design.
-s: not as strong as steel, easier to bend, more brittle in cold weather.

Average what? If the wheels are lighter than the stock wheels, the bike will probably be a bit faster, and turn sharper. It depends on how much lighter the allow wheels are.

Motorcycle or moped?

They are nice and strong, and light, but really, with modern fabrication techniques it is MUCH easier for a manufacturer to build cast wheels as opposed to having THOUSANDS of pairs of spoked wheels built. Spokes also require tuning and truing often depending on how hard you ride... I think spokes are beautiful, and I have fat stainless spokes and polished aluminum wheels on my supermoto.
