I just got a Honda Shadow over last summer and it is my first bike. I was wondering what is a good cleaner for my bike to get bug guts and water marks out. I don't want to get something that will ruin my paint and chrome. I appreciate it.

I use McGuire's cleaner and wax on the paint and Windex on the chrome. If the chrome has something nasty on it ,chrome polish but don't use is too often as it has ( mild) abrasives .Bike got keyed, how should I fix this?

Believe it or not my husband and his buddies use Pledge (yes the dusting stuff in a can).But some other folks that ride told me about some stuff called "Pig Spit" that I have found at my local Harley dealership, I bought my husband some and he likes it...we just wish it was cheaper like Pledge.

Honda makes an excellent cleaner/polish that they sell in aeresol cans. You can find it at your local honda dealer. It's illegal to sell in CA for some dumb reason though so I hope you don live there.It works great as a polish/protectant for the bike if it's already clean.
If the bike is dirty.. the best method is good old fashion bucket of water and car/bike wash soap. Use simple green to clean brake parts and really grimey parts.

If the chain is grimey, use kerosene to clean it and then re-oil it.

Just mix a squirt of dish soap in a empty spray bottle with plain water. Spray that on the bug guts and wait a few minutes and they'll wash off pretty nice. The water spots I use DuPont white polish and a damp rag, then wax it.Do you have Ghost Rider's bike?

i went to mmi and we use pledge on the bikes down there also. honda makes a spray wax but pledge is the same thing. plus the nice lemony smell. just spray on any paint or chrome and rub over the bugs or water marks. switch to a clean dry area on the cloth, or use a different cloth to buff and polish the wax after it dries a bit. saves a ton of money.More Questions & Answers ...
