When riding my motorbike i have developed the nasty habit of not using first gear but instead...?

Question:
pulling the clutch in and coasting along when i am coming to a stop and sometimes around corners. Is this real bad? Can i let it slide or should i get ahold of myself?

What is a good motorcycle to get, without it being too big?

No it`s not really bad when i come to a stop i always put it in neutral and coast to a stop. This way i can relax and not have to hold the clutch in. Now the going around the corners could be bad.

Motorcycle?

stopping the bike in 2nd is not a big deal in most bmw cars 1st gear is rarely even used with an automatic transmission. You should never pull in your clutch when you are taking a turn. This causes the bike to become much less stable. You should shift down before a turn and then accel into it. Dont shift too low though because if you drop the throttle mid-turn your back tire might slip a bit. You will have much better traction if you are accelarating through a turn

I am thinking of purchasing a new Bourget Fat Daddy motorcycle. i need to know how reliable they are?

Not too much of a problem when you're coming to a stop, but coasting around corners IS really bad. You should always accelerate through a corner (for the sake of stability). Leaned over while cornering is no time to cut the power to your rear wheel.

Yes, you've described a bad habit, but you are intelligent enough to correct this behavior. Don't get ahold of anything except the machinery.
