It has sat for 18yrs and now the starter will not turn it over ,even with a new battery.How can I reserect the beast?

First, before ya turn the motor !!!! clean the crap outta everything ! pull off the float bowls. lube(wd40) in the plug holes, turn it by hand, don't force it !take yer time & do it right ! folks in a hurry just break stuff.Plz tell the names of the bikes which are the best avialable in india and is under Rs. 1,000,00 ?
if you take the starter off you will prob see that the brushes are stuck/rusted to the commutator.....you'll need to disassemble it to lightly sand the contacts cleanRP is correct about turning over the motor. Pull the plugs, squirt in some lube, put the bike in high gear and give it a push, if you can't get the motor to turn over you might just as well junk it because it will cost more to rebuild than its worth. If it does turn over next you'll have to do a compression check (you can do it while pushing the bike if you have to), should be 100-120psi if its even going to run. Now if the engine is free and has compression you'll still have to clean the carbs, and not just spraying them with something, after 18 years they are no doubt a gummed up mess and will require a complete going through. If you have the engine freed up the electric starter may now be working, but, those models had a lot of trouble with the starter mechanism from brand new, so, you may have to fool around with it. Other than being somewhat ugly they were pretty good bikes.
