Why my bike doesn't want to start?

Question:
I got Suzuki Intruder VS800. Yesterday at night my bike didn't want to start, there were bunch of "specialists" ready to help. I don't know much about the bikes, so I let them do the work. They were trying to do the jump start with the car ON. My battery was too weak to start it up but all light were on (lights + controls). After their "operation" there's no life in my machine. No lights at all. I've changed the battery today for brand new. No effects. What else can be wrong? I appreciate any help.

Your experts sound old-school. It's much safer to jump with the car off; and modern batteries are powerful enough that it's not a big deal to do. You may have fried the battery with them messing around. I would start with the fuses, then replace the battery. Don't let anyone fix your bike.

Check all the fuses and relays. And not all batteries come fully charged.

sportster yes or no?

it might be the spark plug

Should I trust them or not?

if u hook up a battery wrong trying to jump it, u'll either blow it up, or mess it up. u might have blown a fuse or 2...or 3.
if the fuses are ok, and still no dice after a fresh battery, ur ecm might be fried; not a good thing either.
jump starting is not recommended for bikes.

Hi I am looking to buy a 400cc motorcylce?

You gotta choke it first and let it run for a minute, the cold weather get to bikes like that, especially a new one that hasn't been run that much. But if you keep on tryin to start it without choking it your just gonna run your battery dead to the point where it won't start even you it were choked.

If the cables were hooked up backwards, even momentarily, you could have problems. #1 charge that new battery before you put it in. Then start checking your bike. With luck, you may just have a blown main fuse.

i have a 107" s&s motor and would like to know which size mikuni carb to use for best performance.?

Well for future reference and this will help you in the future. If a battery is dead (really dead) don't bother trying to jump it with the battery still connected. When you jump a battery the current travels through the battery, then to the starter. If the battery is dead so is the current. Disconnect the battery and run the jumper directly to the disconnected wires. That doesn't exactly answer your question but it may be you solenoid. A motorcycle battery naturally isn't as strong as a car battery so the solenoid isn't designed to handly that much power. I've jumped many bikes with a car battery and never damaged the solenoid but you never know.
