Definatley want a 125cc and twist and go start but dont know what else is essential, what I should be looking for, new or second-hand, I dont mind secondhand, but dont want a banger etc..any hardened scooter peeps got any advice?
I have Googled for info and read up a bit, but I think first-hand advice is best and I dont know wanyone who rides one.

The most important thing to know is that you will look like a complete dork while riding it.Get a motorcycle.
First off if you haven't take a motorcycle safety class, they supply the bikes for the class (2 days) and besides learning riding technics it help with the decision on the type of bike/cycle to get, most dealer have info

In my point of view scooters are dangerous and easy to turn over specially in wet floors. Motorbikes are safer than scooters. Nowadays scooters are very light, easy to lose balance.Anyone been to www.kinroad.org? kinroad?
Pay attention on your CBT and ride like drivers are actively trying to injure you. Get a good helmet and waterproofs. Buy the best scooter you can afford but i think you'll get bored of it really quickly and start wanting a proper bike. Thats what happened to me.What is my 06 Ninja 650r Silver worth?
A 2 stroke will go faster but needs more maintenance and you have the added cost of 2 stoke oil which needs topping up regularly. A good 2T 125 will hit 100mph.. A 4 stroke will be slower (topping out at about 65-70mph) but is basically like a car maintenance wise. Put petrol in it and just ride, nothing else to worry about. If you have to wear a seatbelt...?
Most scooters have been abused as the majority have been owned by 16/17 year olds who have no respect for them. They depreciate like nothing else. Something that cost £2000 new is worth £500 a couple of years later. Your best buy would be a 3 year old 1 MATURE previous owner ped from someone who got one for the same reason as you, cheap transport. Avoid buying
any 2 storke that has been messed with (racing exhaust, big bore kits ect), it will end in tears.
Although i'm not a safety nazi (there's not a day that i don't top 140mph) i would say spend a bit of money on some decent riding gear. I know it's not that fast but falling off a scootay at 60mph hurts just as much as falling off a 1000cc sportsbike at 60mph. And believe me, you really notice how much momentum you're carrying when you're sliding down the road towards a kerb. : (
Did you say,"hardened scooter peep"?you must be kidding LOL.I highly recomend you know self defense!Look out for those big scary 250 motorcycles
