2007 Yamaha V-star 650?

I do a lot of highway riding, and I don't want to yank the life of the motor by doing long distance riding on a small engine. Is there anything I can modify on the bike that isn't to expensive and would take some of the long distance highway riding strain off the engine? Thanks and Gig 'em

u'll be fine running on the interstate at legal speed on the v-star. my bike is a 1200cc and at 65 mph (legal interstate speed in ohio) the rpm's dont go over 3200 rpm's. it doesnt even break 3500 when pushed to 70. this is a cruiser not a rice rocket. it'll handle any legal speed in the states no problem. i change my oil every 2500-3000 miles, trans oil at 5k.

Your V-star 650 should be quite happy running LEGAL speeds on any highway in the country. You may not be able to keep up with the big bikes who use engines twice your size, but highway riding at 55-70 MPH will not hurt your engine.

At legal speeds and reasonable takeout offs (most people hurt their bikes with burnouts and such) you will not hurt your bike. Keep the motorcycle well maintained and have a good ride.
