Restricting a bigger bike for a learner ??
The only time you need to replace the v-belt is when you notice a decrease in top speed,the belt will get thinner and will not ride as high on the pulley. The other thing you need to watch for is the motor revving out without any increase in speed,the belt slips from being worn out or it is glazed from heat.I need motorbike trousers that are safe but suit a Ducati Monster!?
There is no set time to change the belt.Depending on how much abuse the belt receives is the deciding factor.
Check it once a season, or at each tune-up/oil change.

Therefore, I have been checking the belt every 4000 miles, just to check. So far at 10,000 miles, I'm still within my wear tolerance, but I have noticed a lot more belt dust inside the case. So I'll change it before spring during the winter off season.
