there's no such animal as a 'smog pump'. charcoal canister....ya, that exists. california bikes are required to have it on when sold. all it does is trap fuel vapors coming from the gas tank when the bike isnt running. when headin down the road, the air stream goes thru the canister, picks up these vapors, and sends them into the engine to be burned.
they wont help or hinder horsepower. their about the size of a small coffee can with a couple of tubes on it. u could remove and plug the tube that leads from the fuel tank, but 1 of these hoses leads to the carburator....and u dont want to plug that 1 up.
be advised that this is considered 'tampering with an emmisions control device'. if ur in california, and the state decides to start checking bikes as well as cars, and it's found u took it off...u could wind up gettin fined for it.
