i need to replace the battery that is under the seat but it isn't a regular screw that attaches the seat. it is a hexagonal hole if that makes any sense

Allen wrench thats what its called, it probaly the standard size go to the hardware store and get a set of allen wrenchs. Plus i own a suzuki and the seat just comes off with a clip not a wrench but yourns is newer then mine

It's a very common way of mounting with this kind of bolts.
If your bike has it's toolkit 2 or 3 of these spanners should be there. If not take the size of the hole and ask for help at the hardware store.
