Filtering is simply another word for overtaking, but many riders are confused over just how legitimate it is. All I can say is do only that what your instructor has taught you. If you are unsure on this point then ask him on the lesson before you take the test

As a rule advice on filtering is nearly always wrong. If you do it on your test and get it wrong you would be seriously pi$$ed so do ask your instructor.

Don't filter chick, its not part of the test and the examiner wouldn't take kindly to it. I'm a bike instructor and would have no problem you doing it after passing but for the sakes of getting through your test just put up with the traffic. You can however overtake if you are being held up by someone PROVIDING YOU DO IT SAFELY . Just keep the lifesavers coming and move your head to use the mirrors so he can see you are looking rather than just moving your eyes. Treat the test like another lesson, if you **** up then don't repeat that **** up, just shake it off and continue! best of luck on test chick.Ok, if you mean overtake traffic, I would say Yes, you would Fail

Personally I would like to see everyone filter on their test if the situation warranted it. However the best advice I can give is this; failure to filter cannot be regarded as a fault so if you don't do it you cannot be in the wrong.

If you do filter & make a mistake you can end up getting faults for it. So which one makes more sense?
You cannot be failed for filtering if it's legal & safe but why bother? It's a shame as I consider it a normal riding skill & one which everyone should be able to do (what's the point of riding a bike if you can't use it to make progress) but the test doesn't cover this "grey" area.
