That's classic symptoms of a bad battery. I suspect that if you put a meter to the battery when trying to turn the engine over, you'd see the VDC drop well below 10vdc. Or if you pulled it and took it somewhere to have a Voltage Drop test done (anywhere that sells/services batteries Should have one), they'll show it to be bad also.American motorcyclists what is the classic Harley?
make double dog sure your battery is up 12volts if so pull your starter soliniod out of its little rubber mount and smack it with a screw driver handle and try again or it could be that this was damaged from a low battery back to square onefallow the pos battery wire to the starter selinode use a metel object to bridge the terminals. if it turns the motor this is a good thing. next; hold the selinode in your hand and with the power ON push START ,if it clicks hard and motor does not turn then replace the selinode.

It is either your battery, battery able, or starter motor is bad. The easiest to check first is the battery to be sure it is putting out the 12volts you need to start it. A volt meter is inexpensive or take it to a auto parts store. they should have a meter handy and if it is bad you can trade it in right there.More Questions & Answers ...
