No type of lock will stop a professional thief. Invest in a Lo Jack system for your bike.
How much to replace chain and brake pads?
get a pit bull and give him a 45 magnum.truth is if a theif wants your bike he will get it but you can make it hard on them.
a big chain that locks around a solid pole with a good lock will slow them down. an alram with a poxie setting will sound off if someone gets near but ya gotta hear it. cover the bike so thiefs won't know whats under it.
a lo jack will help find your bike if stolen but usually all you will find is the part that has the lo jack on it.

Most thieves won't go behind a fence, because they don't want to risk getting shot at by the property owner.

Have you ever ridden Deal's Gap, NC i.e. The Dragon's Tail?
My son's R6 was stolen. The one replacing it is chained to an iron fence. Those bikes are so light that two men can quickly put one in a truck. If nothing else, you might consider cementing in an anchor of some sort to chain to.
I have a cobra lock for my Harley. It can not be cut.
A garage is the only thing that you can get to stop a would-be theif. Repo guy here. Just lay it over on a matress and take it. Alarm and all. Locked up to a pole. Cut or pick lock. Cut link out of chain. Remove part being held. Rear rim. No problem. Rim replaceable by insurance. Lock it to trailer. Not a good idea. Whole trailer stolen. Lojack is the only thing to catch a thief but it will be stripped by the time they recover the wiring. Wiring dumped on side of country road. Transmitters only hidden in wiring or under panel. If you know what you are looking for then it makes a difference. So either keep your but on it or put it in your garage. When traveling wheel it into your first floor hotel or motel room. Peace D.
Get a ground anchor & good chain / lock with the sold secure logo. These have been attack tested by former theives & survived for 5 minutes. Combined with a good alarm that's about the best you can do.
Is it OK to use a car or light truck "Jump Start" your bike?

Get a paging alarm that contacts you when it activates as well. Make sure you keys are not left lying around especially near to doors and windows, many bike and car thefts nowadays take the form of burglary to get keys to avoid problems with alarms & immobilisers.

Why not consider a bikesafe. ie. a little shed to put it in, they are about just high enough to slide the bike into. You could then link it to the house alarm and hopefully keep your ride.
Good Luck
