EFI Download for new exhaust and air cleaner?

The dealership told me that the regular download for the EFI would make my 06 FXST run lean. The said that I needed the $450 race download. Is this true?

All (stock) Harleys run "lean" (not enough fuel) to meet EPA emisions standards.
By adding new exhaust and air cleaner, it will run even "leaner", because more air can flow through the engine, but not enough fuel is used.

What Harley won't tell you is that there are aftermarket products available (Revtech DFO for $200, or a Dynojet Powercommander for $300) that will allow you to do the same thing (add more fuel).

yup. the race tuner is a harley brand...power commander isnt, but is the same thing to adjust the mix. the sert tho is 'married' to ur bike by vin # unlike the power commander. u wouldnt be able to use ur sert on another bike, but u could with a power commander.
the 07's is running extremely lean cause of the new epa regs. before too long, air cooled engines will go the way of the carburator.

It's a fact, to be sure. EFI is a wonderful thing, if you plan to remain stock. I would go with a Power Commander. It will do the same thing as H-D tuner, at 2/3 the $. All you need is a laptop computer. If you have a problem, the Power Commander tech will help you over the phone. As you do more mods, the Power Commander will handle the mods up to a stroker.

It's less expensive to build the old school, but EFI is reliable as the sun rising each day.
