I have never had any probelm with this. Many people come up and look but know not to touch. Perhaps they should evaluate where they are living and ask themselves if they are living where they feel conforatble.

I think because it's the kind of thing where 3 or 4 big guys can lift it/fling it into the back of a truck and take off with it. True, this has been done with cars using a tow truck, but more tempting with a bike. Even if you lock the fork and install a caliper lock, they're normally in the 500-800 lb weight range so it "can" be done if the guys are strong enough. Usually they don't care much if it gets damaged as they are going to strip it for parts anyways. The fancier the paint the less they care because if they sell a fancy painted item the owner might see it somewhere and identify it as his and then the cops can track the theives down back to the source. I think this is a universal worry, can happen no matter where you live, so yeah bikers tend to worry about being out of sight of there bike for a long time. I know I wouldn't want to take mine to go see a movie......How much more dangerous are motorcyles than cars?

Motorcycles are a big expense. That is why people worry about them. I do not think it is because of where they live but the fact that there are chop shops all over. All you have to do is pull up with two guys, pick the bike up and put it in a back of a van and take off. Ilive in a very nice area and I still worry about mine. There are rich crooks too.
