GPZ600 1985 Radiator fan does not come on when the bike is warmed up and so it stops running till cold again?

When you find it there should be 2 wires going to the fan, connect a bulb across the wires and get the sender hot, the bulb should switch on.

If not you will have a faulty sender or no power getting to it, it can happen but usually to me.

Using a volt meter/ continuity tester ,check thermostat posts with bike cold. Heat the bike up to running temp and check posts again to see if the sender/thermostat grounds. If not your thermostat is bad and needs replacement.

The fan switch on the radiator is probably bad. It's on the bottom of the radiator with a wire connected to it. It's a temperature switch. When heated up. it tells the fan to come on. Turn on the key and ground that wire (it should have battery voltage) - the fan should come on. If it doesn't, then the switch is bad.

The fan wont come on until the temp is well into the top quarter, gpz900's suffered from the same problem, a lot of people fit a bypass switch inside the fairing or a lower temp thermostatic switch .
