Question:
I'm thinking about getting a trials bike. They don't seem to be too popular here in the states though. Since I'm just getting in to it, I think I want to go with a used one, probably a Gas Gas... what is a good year and model to look for? And where would be some good places to look for one?
Thanks

Trials riding is a great sport - I don't know why it's never caught on here very strong.
How do I adjust my clutch on a 1981 yahama motorcycle?
Have you checked locally for a club? If you can find a club or group, that's probably going to be your best bet for riding information, and also a bike.
What do i need to get a motorcycle permit? i am over 15 1/2. i already have my driving permit?
Gas Gas, Sherco, Scorpa, Montessa, many manufacturers make excellent trials bikes.
Trials bikes started as two strokes and four strokes back in the 1960's, but by the mid 1970's they were all two strokes. Up until just a couple of years ago, there were NO real four stroke trials bikes made. Scorpa and HRC Montessa recently both released some very trick four stroke trials bikes - they're based loosely on the MX four stroke engines, and are fuel injected (very cool, very expensive!).
Do you have to have rearview mirrors on a sport bike in texas?
For the least amount of maintenance, try not to get a 'Pro' model, these usually are higher compression, and require more frequent rebuilds.
Scorpa made a really cool bike called the 'long ride' a few years ago (they might still), it's their regular 250cc trials bike, but with a small REAL seat, larger fuel tank, etc. So you can do a bit of real exploring and trail riding, but still have a great little trials bike when you find a good section to play around on.
If you're just beginning, even an older - 1980's and later - machine in good condition isn't a bad deal. Just keep in mind that some of them will be tough to find parts for.
The good news is most of them are bullet-proof.
I think my bike is flooded. Motorcycle help.?
Have fun!
There are many manufacturers of quality trials bikes. As far as I know, they are all 4-stroke bikes due to the type of riding. I would recommend going to a local trial and checking out used bikes first. Most likely there will be several of last years bikes for sale. I am not an authority because I don't believe the tires on my bike are supposed to get dirty (read I am a road rider but can appreciate other styles).
Modifications/parts for Ninja.?
beta, scorpa and montesa also make high quality trials bikes, and sherco does also. They are mainly 2 strokes because of the lighter weight of the 2 strokes compqared to 4's I don't know alot about the different models but the gas gas is very good alsoMore Questions & Answers ...
