My answer is that I have no answer... And it seems to me that at the start of the riding season more waves are returned than not, perhaps due to the fact that everyone is happy to be riding again. Here in Alberta Canada a returned wave might just be the acknowledgement of shared stupidity for riding in sub-zero (C°) temperatures. Maybe rushing the season just a little...
