A smaller Virago 535 or under, and the previously-mentioned Rebel 250 are good. Go to a bike shop and try a few. Or, if there's a Sunday-morning breakfast place you see that's crowded with bikes, go. Everyone there will be friendly, and will let you try on their bike (but not ride it).Go to the dealer of which ever bikes you like (personal choice is Harley first then Honda) and sit a few. Talk to the sales crew and ask lots of questions. You don't say what type of bike you want or what you want it for ( town running or road trips).

MY top choice would be a Harley sportster to start with, the 883 is a good town bike and if it feels a little tall you can have a lowering kit put on it. If your looking for a road tripper the Harley 1200 or the Harley low rider are both good choices.

Sure! Sport bikes you'll have a problem with, but there are many standard/street/cruiser bikes that you'll be able to fit on.It's quite likely that you'll either need to have the bike lowered or you might need to make adjustments to the seat, your boots, the shock settings, etc.

One I know for sure that you'll be able to reach the ground on is the Magna. The seat height is 28" which may be a bit steep, plus the seat is rather wide. However, I've got one (currently for sale) that I've had lowered to around 26".

The advantage of this bike is that it's nice and beefy. It's a VF750, which means that it's got plenty of oomph and looks like a big bike, unlike the 250's which look like 250's. If that matters to you..it did to me.
That said, there are a good number of 250 size bikes out there - even a 250 sportbike.
