My first bike was a katana (still own it too) and the thing was way forgiving,easy to ride and was very comfy,highway riding was especially smooth and easy.It is a heavy sport touring bike tho compared to a lot of sport bikes in the same cc class,if you go with this option remember that most sport bikes are not very stable at low speeds to begin with and that the extra weight makes the Kat a real work out at low speeds.Other than adding fuel and changing oil, what routine maintenance should I perform on my motor bike?

Get the Katana. My first bike was a Katana 750 and i was fine. The can'o'tuna is called that for a reason, it easy to ride. The suspension feels like a caddilac and the steering isnt as good as full sport bike but it isnt as punishing either. If you make a mistake on a katana it is very easy to recover. See the con'otuna is good cuz its easy to ride but the performance is still there if you wanna speed a little bit. Word to the wise dont think that you can lean over in turn on a katana like you can a gsxr600 or any other superbike, its not made for that, go fast in a straght line fine but do think you can take a sharp turn going 75 like you can on a real sportbike. The katana is a sport turing bike its made to be easy to ride and to be comfortable on long rides.Can a software engineer own a suzuki gsx R from his own salary ?
I think the Katana is a better looking bike. It will be a little more powerful since it is a 4 cylinder instead of a twin like the GS. The Katana is not a full out sports bike like the GSX-R so I really don't think it would be too much if you are relatively new to riding. It also has a fairly comfortable seating position.Apart from Triumph is there any other British motorcycle manufacturer still in existence?
