Best street bike for beginner...?

Question:
I am looking into getting a bike. I don't have any actual motorcyle riding experience, just little dirt bike riding (nothing major). I was debating between a moped or getting a street bike. I am looking for something to use mainly around town, probably wont do any freeway riding at all. I am around 5'5'' so dont want nothing too big or too heavy. I will also probably take the riding safety course.

Any one going to the Benny's Bike Rally in Midland??

I first thought of a moped (like 150cc) because it seems easier and cheaper. I like the fact its automatic and can find a decent one for around 1,000 bucks.

How hard is it to make a dirtbike street legal? How and where do I get the parts installed?

I was also looking at the ninja 250's.. It seems like something i might be interested in. I really dont plan on moving to something bigger, just sticking with it primarily to save gas and because of interest.

Anybody know where I can get a front axle for a 05 or newer GSXR 1000?

Are there any other street bikes that are similar to the kawasaki ninja 250 that might be a little smaller (maybe 125 - 150cc) that still have the street bike look to them rather than a cruiser? Thank you.

Why do you have to go through an extra step with motorcycle batteries?

The Ninja 250 is not as aggressive as most sport bikes. It has a more upright riding posture, and it's low seat height would fit your stature fine. Also the 250 isn't decked out in expensive plastic as much as some of the bigger bikes in case (or rather WHEN) you biff it.

If you want something more of a road bike style, you might consider a Honda Rebel. It's also low and isn't big and bulky like many cruisers are.

What happens if exhaust is clogged?

Both the Rebel and Ninja 250 are inexpensive (especially used) and parts are easy to find for both bikes. And they are both decently easy to work on. Plus they hold their value fairly well so when you are ready for a bigger bike, you can recover most of the money you spent on them.

What is the RPM on a 2005 Harley Fat Boy at 75 mph.?

THE 250 ARE ACTUALLY GREAT BIKES, IT WOULD BE A GREAT WAY TO GO. EVEN THOUGH YOU DO NOT PLAN ON DOING HIGHWAY TRAVEL YOU SHOULD NOT GO TO A SMALLER CC BIKE. SINCE YOU DO RIDE DIRT BIKES YOU MAY WANT IT TO MOVE A LITTLE BIT FASTER THAN A MOPED OR A125CC.

The Ninja 250 is a great bike. If you like cruisers more there quite a few nice 250's in that style as well. My girlfriend has a Honda Rebel. Its a great little bike and she's really liked it.

I took a patch from a Hells Angel's jacket - how can I give it back safely?

The Ninja 250 is about the smallest sportbike you can get and incredibly light-- only 304 lbs., nimble and a total blast to ride.great brakes, turns on a dime. I got one last October and just got it back out for the spring. They are priced right too, especially for used. I am about your height and can get my feet flat on the ground easily, which helps with my confidence on the bike. Good luck and happy riding!

Is 15 MPH fast for an Electric Scooter?

As you mentioned you'd rather not get a cruiser, you are pretty much limited to the Ninja 250. No other major maker sells non-cruiser 250s. Some Korean and Chinese bikes are starting to hit the U.S., but not widespread and don't have the track record of Ninja 250.

I have a typhoon xr and there is no electric comin down the ht lead to the spark plug wot should i do?

You should be able to get a used one pretty reasonably, and not outgrow it for a long time. Smaller cc bikes=better gas mileage and more fun per dollar.
