HI, WHY CAN'T I GET MY OIL TO DRAIN OUT OF MY MOTORCYCLE??

Question:
IT IS AN '03 HARLEY SOFT TAIL. WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE THE OIL, NOTHING DRAINED. I KNOW THERE IS OIL IN THE TANK AND THERE IS NO LEAK.

check under the frame for a black hose that clips to the frame. it'll have a hose clamp on it. unhook it, undo the clamp, pull the plug. *thar she flows*. good chance the softail's are setup the same way as the sportsters when it comes to oil draining, but the most fool-proof method is..buy a service manual. add the right amount and type of tools, and u'd be able to strip this bike down to the last nut and put it back together again. will save ya alotta cash in the long haul.

I have to ask.did you warm up the bike to at least operating temperature? It will surely help you out.
Next thing I would check is to make sure you actually removed the oil drain plug not something else. Check your manual.

Where are you trying to drain it from? Most of the sporty Harleys drain from the tank or an oil line, only the baggers have a drain plug for the motor oil.
Also, the bike should be hot or at least warm to do an oil change.

I believe on the 2003 Softail there is a downspout or down tube off the tank near the trani.

second - make sure you remove the correct drain plug
third - make sure your bike is not upside down
