I put a cable through my front wheel yesterday for security. I got out of work late and hopped on the bike. I got 3 feet when the cable wound itself around the hub. I spent the next half hour unwinding the cable. Fortunately, no damage was done except to my ego.

yeah Actually it is a scooter I put a chain through the rear wheel . The electric start did want to work so I had to kick start it and the chain cable went through the plastic body cost $77.00 of damages. Yeah many times, first when I was learning to ride I decided to ride my bike up a dry river bed. Those rocks are very unforgiving.
Second time I can remember I was racing at night. I was doing about 120 mph across a dam when I seen a back hoe parked across it in my head light. Ended up hitting a rock wall and totaling my bike. Only thing that saved me was the fact that I went over the bars and landed in the reservoir.

i was camping out in the dunes and took my dirt bike along. after setting up camp i went for a ride on the bike. there is a large dune in front of me, on the back side is what is known as the "bowl". this can be a very fun jump if you pick up alot of speed, you can go 25-35 feet in the air. so thats exactly what i did. little did i know that there was a motor home on the other side right in my way. my front wheel went through the side of the motor home, i went through the window just above the new hole and landed ontop of a sleeping teenager who was very pissed! that was by far my stupidest thing. i should have taken a look to make sure there was nothing on the back side of the bowl. i didnt break anything, just very sore. even the bike was fine. and i made some new friends the hard way. they call from time to time to invite me to drop in, just not literaly, lol.Can I trust a Chinese products scooters?

In my haste to throw the wheel back in i'd not secured the rear brake caliper properly and when i'd dabbed the brake it had gripped the disc, spun round, unscrewed the banjo and spurted brake fluid all over the new tyre, and it had time to pool up while I was waiting for the lights to change.

Don't feel bad about the cable as I've done that & a couple other things. The worst was when I was off-road on steep
mountainside & was so captivated by Canadian Rockies seen with the peaks sticking out of lowland clouds my foot went down just as I let go of throttle (it was the wrong foot & there was a small cliff). My body halted draped over a tree limb & dirt bike landed upright between tree and rock face. To get to my bike involved falling off limb. like dropping your bike on a steep hill & have it slide down to the bottom where there is a 9 ft deep trench that is just wide enough for the bars to scrape on as it falls to the bottom..seems bikes land wheels up( sort of like bread landing butter side down) had to jump in on top of the bike & hit the kill switch cos it was still running ...took 3 mates to help lift it out...but it was good..they didnt give me sh*t at all..(sarcasim ..lowest form of wit)

& yes you can get a bike bogged.usually about half way through the bog.(so its no closer to go back).down far enough so the frame & gearbox of the bike is touching the ground...& when its really boggy the only way out is to roll the bike on its side ..then pick it up & roll it again..till you get to some solid ground.which if moving fast enough when you hit the bog is about 20 yards away...

My last bike, I was doing some repairs and it was out of comission for several weeks. The building management is really strict about only working, good condition vehicles being kept in the garage, so i had to mock it back up with the fairings and tank when I wasn't working on it. Finally, I was ready to take it for the test drive. I forgot that I had taken all the bolts out of the right lower fairing and it was just resting there supported by the slider... as soon as I turned out of my parking stall the fairing fell off the bike and slid 10 feet, getting pretty scratched up in the process.I proposed to a gal after she gave me a "reach-around" at 70 mph. Like you, a little unwinding was called for, later.
