Question:
I know about changing rear sprockets on bikes and putting on a larger diameter rear tire, but is there a kit or gear that can be installed to give this shaft driven bike the "6th gear" it needs? Anybody know if another model Yamaha cycle like the 1100 V-Star rear can be changed out with the 650 for more top end?? Thanks in advance!

Yamaha Warrior 350 ATV where can I find one?
not all that familar with the v-star's, but besides the sprocket change, how about high performance cam's? but first u should do the stage1: free-er flowing pipes (NOT straight pipes), high flow air cleaner and a remap of the ecm. then u could go to stage2: port and polish the heads. they ream the intake/exhaust out a little to port them, then polish em. then drop in cams that would be for either high performance, or for more torque. if u get the higher torque, u'll come off the lights with alot more authority.usually with a stage2, u'd be good to install a heavy duty clutch as well. the stage 3 is where u bore out the jugs, and add bigger pistons, rings, lifters, valves...price tag for this wont be cheap, but it'll have alot more power than a stock bike ever will.
trade that baby in on an R1, that'll increase your performance. EAT ME!

Why do you have to go through an extra step with motorcycle batteries?
no there isnt really much you can do. since it is shaft drive you cant change the sprockets (there aren't any) and you cant change the gearing. adding different cams (if they make them for that bike, which i doubt) they wont really make any significant increase in speed. you can do a lot to get more power from the engine, which will make it accelerate faster but wont really gain any more top speed. you need a gearing change. but unless some place custom r&d's the rear end shaft gears. i bleive you are out of luck. and the 650cc v twin probaly wont go much faster than the factory topend, even with taller gears. it will run out of power on the topend.racing fuel, about 8 bucks a gallon
I hear good things regarding Max Air's Filter and rejet kit. Check it out in the link below. Also, if you do plan to rejet the carbs, now would be the time to put on a good aftermarket set of pipes (if you haven't already done so). Your bike needs to breathe. What you loose in mpg, you'll make up for in HP and torque.
Put some 1" spacers under your cyclinder head. This should make the top end at least 1" taller
