i'm ok with a bike slightly louder than stock, but i cant tolerate the straight pipes. i've worked all 3 shifts, and midnights is the worst...that dick of a neighbor of mine would at noon, would idle and goose the bike for a good 10 mins at the very least. it would shake the walls, rattle the windows, and scare the chit out of my 3 yr old kid. and the thing of it is..i ride a bike, but not a bike that is excessively loud.be advised that i've been seeing alot of signs go up in various places of ohio that i go thru or haunt..and it has to deal with noise ordanences. warren, champion, viena, youngstown all have ordanences on the books.and youngstown has been hardcore on the boom cars, it's only a matter of time before they turn their attention to bikes.

loud pipes are totally worthless except to pi-ss the non-rider off, make certain areas off-limits to even a factory stock bike, scare the chit out of toddlers, and basically, turn public opinion against all bikes. one day u might wake up and find that the state legislature is about to ban loud pipes, and give the fuzz enough cash to justify the manpower it will take to start conducting traffic blitzes...and the primary target will be bikes with excessively loud pipes. they've been doing it for years with drunk drivers. it just might wind up happening to bikes before too long.

LOL I love to ride, I love the loud pipes, they turn me on. I'd rather hear the rumble than the garbage spilling from the stereos booming down the road. Personally, I think they are just afraid to ride or intimidated. The smaller the D### the bigger the Prick I always say. LET UM RUMBLEI guess you don't live close to any biker hangouts, or you would know what the problem is after every bike night when you have to work 3rd shift. :-P

It just pisses people off, man. Maybe that is what you want to do, maybe not. But the fact of the matter is, there is a lot of pending legislation out there aimed at motorcycles. Loud pipes are one of the primary reasons for much of it. Ever go to Myrtle Beach? I can't rent a condo in a lot of the places there now and ride my bike down - they banned ALL motorcycles at many of them due to loud pipes issue. Get a clue - that motorcyclists are a minority that the general public WILL deal with if we don't show some respect for them.

I don't have a girlfriend, dumbass. I like tube steaks.I ride a Harley and like the louder rumble of the engine. But, there are some of my fellow riders whose bikes are way to loud. They ride down the street setting off car alarms. If you ride behind them on a trip it is very annoying. There is no consideration for others with excessive noise, especially the non-motorcyclists. Now many of these non-motorcyclist are trying to have laws passed to ban load pipes and certain communities have even posted off limit signs for motorcycles. ABATE is supporting the banning of excessive noise producing pipes because the number of riders are increasing and the noise is increasing. We need to consider others if we want to continue enjoying our freedom. Every year our city has bike week and when you have thousands of motorcycles coming in and driving all hours of the night setting off your alarms, it makes it difficult to sleep at night. I enjoy the roar of the motorcycle as you hear it come down the rode but trying to be the loudest on the block does not make you the favorite neighbor in the neighborhood. One of my neighbors must either drink til 2am or work 2nd shift, He wakes everybody up when he comes home every night. Thank God for the winter months when he doesn't ride. My problem is my neighbors know I ride and don't look at me any different than they do the other guy.

ive owned 20 bikes in 25 yrs of riding..i must agree with some of the guys that are against STRAIGHT pipes(no muffler/baffle)my stock mean streak is pretty loud w/stock pipes...any big vtwin is pretty loud on its own...i owned a 1979 sportster(with siamese pipes/the only year with em)and i took em off to put open drag pipes on it,and regretted it right away(messed up jetting etc)..being 18 and not thinking(or caring)i scrapped the rare ,original pipes...i live next to a bar/fish camp and all day and all night sat/sun its open pipes screamin by ,goin in both directions.(airboats too/thats another problem)...it sucks... oh well.i just turn up the rock music louder . ;~)Loud pipes are a volatile subject in the motorcycling community.
