Does any one have and willing to sell me a shop manual for a 1981 Suzuki GN400 motorcycle?
ther could be a few things wrong with it, you said you cleaned the carbs, did you make sure all 4 are sycronised? when you cleaned them did you move the jet screws? or it could be the idal screw, flote sticking or worse pin hole in it, throtle cable sticking, choke sticking, alot of things can be wrong. you didnt say wether you let it run for a wile or if you imedietly shut it off? are you using a fuel filter? does it imedietly hit 9000rpms when you start it?Is a Yamaha DT 2-stroke or 4-stroke?

idle adjustment screw isnt set to the right idle speed. is best to set the idle when the engine is fully warmed up tho. back it down a tad. check the manual for the right idle speed. my sportster idles around 1200 rpm.Your bike should have a piston in each carburetor which moves up and down by either a cable or the vacuum generated by the engine. Sounds like the kind operated by the throttle cable, in which case it also acts as the throttle for the machine. One or more is stuck at the top of it's stroke, which is full throttle. The piston should have a groove in it's side which engages a pin inside the carb which allows it to slide up and down. Sounds like you did not line the groove up with the pin after the cleaning. Revisit this area.

Your throttle cable could be stuck open - check all the linkages by tracing them from the carb to the throttle. If there is no binding, tear the carbs down and make sure something isn't sticking there.Dollie between the bike and trailer?
