Now motorcycle speed limiting is on the politicians agenda in the UK.?

Question:
What do you think of it?!

Answers:

What does the word ''torque'' mean?

pants.is my honest opinion.
riders of larger bikes are only too well aware of the dangers...same as lorry drivers, because of the vehicle they use they HAVE to be very road worthy and fully aware.

How do you put motorcycle exhaust pipes back on?

they would stop a damn sight more accidents by getting rid of the suits in the company cars.

Motorcycle?

Its not the motor cycle its the rider or the daft car driver who causes accidents, If they are going to limit Bikes then what next?, my brother with his new Jag 4ltr V8 will not be too happy.

Can I upgrade to a fatter wheel on a Lifan LF200 motorcycle??

You dont need new speed limits for motor cycle because they dont keep to the present ones. Most motorcycle speedometers start at 60 mph not zero.

Honda scooter?

Good idea, limit everything to 130 mph so i can keep up with an R1 on my 600 bandit :)

Does a Kawasaki Ninja 250 drive good on the freeway going uphill?

If they limit sports cars they should limit bikes too. But it's not the speed that causes the accidents, it's the idiot riding the bike! Doesn't matter if the bike can do 180mph. If the rider decides to go on the wrong side of the road to overtake a car coming up to a bend, even at 50mph, then it doesn't matter if it's a 125 or a BMW.

Suzuki V Strom 1000 or Triumph Sprint ST ? Which way should I go?

I'm a biker and I say it wont make any difference. Its the rider/driver not the machine. Everybody can speed not everybody can stop. I ride a Honda Hornet 900 and stress ride not race it. Educate the handler not machine. I see young lads in cars/scooters driving them like they have just nicked them, yet an older person rides/drives within the law using the same machines. Legal and Loving it, and a Woman!

Explain the action of the conventional shock absorber on both compression (jounce) and rebound strokes?

A friend of mine was riding his (180Mph) TL 1000R at a nice sedate 45Mph on an A road when he got a Ford Ka doing about 70 in the rear.
Restricting the speed of Bikes will achieve very little reduction in deaths / injuries, just look at the figures for cyclists, they're not travelling at high speeds.
What is needed is better training for car drivers and better enforcement of acceptable driving (and riding) practices.

Race fairings?

I think it will happen it time even though I don't agree with it. Motorcyclists are their own worst enemy with a large minority give motorcycling a very bad name. That together with stupidly loud race cans and modern bikes revving to 14,15,16 and 17,000 rpm are doing us no favours. The rider and a few biker colleagues might thinks it's great but the public at large don't think so. I know modern bike are to quiet for safety's sake, but race cans go too far down the wrong route.
It's sad to say, but I think the days of super powerful bikes are numbered. It's our own fault as society increasingly becomes less intolerant.

Moped to Street bike..?

they couldnt put a system in place that would cope with what they want to do! If you limit bikes then you have to limit all other vehicles like the **** car drivers who jump lights on you otherwise lots of dead bikers. All vehicles would have to have some sort of proximity cut out on the engines so no one could go through amber lights or sit on junctions where they shouldnt be the list is endless.
however lets remember who we have at No 10 and if these people dont like something they ban it!! the restriction would be just the begining......

1993 kawasaki EX250 F7 ninja?

Let us say that I, a motorcyclist, is traveling at 60 MPH and it runs over gravel, oil, or any of the many other slippery fluids cars leak over the road. Maybe the ground is wet. Anyway, the rear tire looses traction. So I give the bike more gas in order to recover. The reason for more gas is to increase my rear tires spin there for increasing the gyroscopic force keeping the bike upright. Now unfortunately for me the rear tire's spin is how my speed is measured. So, when the tire spins to 65 mph indicated and the power is retarded. Now I low side (the bike falls over on me) and that cause me to hit a guard rail, tree, pole, or any of the many hard objects on the side of the road. Now I am parilized, crippled, or dead! But at least high speed was not the cause of my accident or death. Thanks politicians! How about we better spend our time and money cleaning up the roads, educating drivers to look for motorcyclist, and pass stronger laws so when car drivers kill motorcyclist the excuse “I didn’t see him” is no longer a get out of jail free card. At east in the UK they should do a report similar to “The Hurt Report”. By the way that report is 25 years old and there has not been a similar study since.
