Actually just because you have chosen to be an organ donor, doesn't necessarily mean your organs will be donated. In the end it is your family that has the last say. I am in the medical profession and have never seen anyone "give up sooner" just because the patient is an organ donor. I have heard the claim though. It does make a difference however at the scene as to whether or not your are kept on a breathing machine and continued to be given oxygen just for the sake of the organs.
