4 hours seems a long time but on a rail journey it will pass quickly enough.

take a selection of mags that have insteresting storys in them. Also mags with games such as sudoko are really good. Also why not borrow a friends gameboy kinda thing. If all else fails .. just go to sleep !hope this helps.
depending where you are...a small pair of binoculars might be interesting. Most trains travel through countryside rarely seen from the hiway. you may just be surprised at what you will see.
