Locomotives are more complex than most people realize. With all the gauges, controls, levers, and switches, you'd be totally lost up there. If you even got it started, I'd be impressed.
Plus, without knowledge of how the railway operates (like not being rules qualified), you'd be caught real fast, since you'd likely give yourself away shortly after moving.
