My friend skiped the fair on the DLR for ONE STOP, a police officer came over, took her details and said she might go to court and get a criminal record FOR SKIPING ONE MEASLY STOP LOL. Anyway, can anyone tell me what is most likely to happen to her? Will she most likely be going to court or will she be more likely to end up with a fine and if so, how much etc...

court...then a fine...she will have to pay the fare..which is a bit nutty and in addition she will be given a fine and be made to pay court costs...expect to shell out between £50- £150 quid.....if it was'nt british transport police though she may get away with it.she tried to cheat the system and got caught , maybe £50 costs and a fine plus pay the fare BY A TICKET its cheaper

It doesn't matter whether it is 'one measly stop' or twenty. There is no reason why people who conscientiously pay their fares every time should have to pay higher fares because of fare dodgers. Not paying the fare is theft. Would your friend go shop-lifting?If you live by train tracks...?
you lol but fare dodgers affect revenue and in turn that can add to the cost for other travellersthe average fine for fare evasion is £100 plus costs though the max is £1000 and 3 months in jail. Oh and don't forget a criminal record

Well to be honest, your friend should have known better even if it was just 1 stop that they got on the DLR for! A Ticket is not just the fare for traveling on that train, its your insurance, so if you are taken ill it covers the costs in delays, ambulances Ect. A ticket also covers train maintenance, track maintenance, and a lot more so I say PAY The Fare Not the Fine! As for what happens next, well it depends on if the British Transport Police decide to take her to court or not!
