Are led lights on the inside of your car illegal if they are not in use while driving?

Is it illegal to mount red and blue led lights in the rear of your car if you don't use them while driving? In other words, you can see that there are red and blue led lights when you look through the back winshield, but they do not function or are turned off while driving.

it all depends on what state, and even what city you live in. I know that in California its almost damn impossible to do anythig to your car cause of the pricks that live here. But yeah most states wouldnt mind as long as you have them off while driving or the car is even turned on. Those type of lights are usually sold for "show cars" and not everyday driving cars. But definatly check with your current state and district laws first, and if you cant find anything ask your local police department.

this gets kinda sticky... technically If you have a color other than white or amber facing forward you cannot have it on the car, but if it is not on and is only used for "show purposes only" then you should be able to get away with it. also, do not mount it so that it is visible because you could get busted for impersonating an officer. One thing you could do is get an in-grill light set (assuming you are going for the cop look) and have a switch in the inside of your car. When you want to screw with people, turn them on... also if you want a siren, download a siren sound and put it on a cd that way if you get pulled over, they really cannot do anything because you technically do not have a siren.
