They either have to be 12 or at least tall enough so that their chest is even with the passenger side air bag. It has nothing to do with weight in this issue, that is for younger children and booster seats. Riding in the front seat is completely different because of where the airbag is positioned. That airbag shoots out of there at 60 mph. If the child is not tall enough, it will snap their neck.CA law puts it at 11. Other states might set the age higher...
Why do we have to wear a seat belt and motorcycle riders don't have to wear a helmet?
Probably 12 yrs. / 110 will be safe. Important to adjust the seat belt height so it doesn't slink over the neck. Just needs to hit the shoulder and go down to the waist.
