Question:
Hello, we need to tow my girlfriends car to the garage... it's 20 miles and we have a choice of roads - a hilly A road, with lots of roundabouts, junctions and traffic lights or a flat, direct motorway route. I've bought a decent tow-pole for the job and we plan to make the trip in the middle of the night.
What makes a police intercepter a intercepter.?
Is it ok for one car to tow another on the motorway?
Answers:
It is perfectly find to tow a vehicle on the roads and in fact the person in the towed car does not even need a license and nor does the towed vehicle require a MOT or tax. Do not tow a automatic car this way as it while the gearbox. stick to a maximum of 40 mph and make that the lights on the towed vehicle work. If it is car with power steering/brakes etc then if the engine is not running will be difficult and dangerous.
Can I make it with this tread?
As it is commonplace to see cars towing caravans and, indeed, other things, such as horse boxes, on the motorway, there can be no objection. However, you will probably hold up the traffic, so it could be an antisocial thing to do.If I was driving down a street and a guy was walking his dog?
if its front wheel drive dont tow it with the front wheels on the ground or you will be needing a transmission. Ive done it twice and burned up the trans in both cars.I think you can only tow a car on a motorway if it has broken down and needs removing from the motorway.
