My family is really strict too. Recently, i got in a minor accident and i was TERRIFIED of telling them! Dont tell them before you're ready, and sort of have a plan of what to say. but do it soon! and be well rounded in what you say. like, admit that you were wrong, but tell them that because of this you've learned something, whatever that something may be. explain to them that having something like this happen teaches you to be a better driver, and be upfront telling them you will pay for it. and if your insurance excuses speeding tickets if you go to drivers school on a saturday, offer to do that. other than that i would just say be confident, even tho its okay to be scared! i know i was! you could start the conversation casually, but direct. ultimately you know your parents better than anyone else, so you could probably come up with a good way to start the conversation. it wont be easy and u will scared as crap so dont expect it to be a breeze! just be prepared and stay calm! with me, when my parents saw that i was handling the situation as an adult (though i was scared out of my mind!) they treated me as an adult. good luck! :-)
