Answers:
Im a bus driver, and agree they do need seat belts, but thru training I have seen actually bus accident with cams inside the bus videos and because of how the bus was in the accident and if the kids were in seat belts, injury could of been more serious, more study and research has to be done and that accident in GA that kid sleeping on the floor may have saved that kids life being the way that bus went over... its really depending on how the accident is occurring.
Yes, they should have seat belts!! I think the REAL question is why don't they? They save lives so they should've been enforced a long time ago. Think about it, the bus driver wears a seat belt so why shouldn't our children?
Seat belts for school buses are definitely a good idea. I think it's especially important on the buses used to transport younger children who have a tendency of jumping up and down or going from seat to seat.
Deer Warning Devices - are they any good?
isn't it funny that people have to wear seat belts bu the people who enforce the law don't .school buses and heavy equipment are also not mandatory. The real problem is that in most places if the occupants are under 16-18 yo the driver is responsible to ensure everyone uses a seatbelt. It would be too expensive to constantly check every kid. The other reason has to do with the legal liability if they didn't constantly check every kid and someone got hurt.
If lawmakers exempted busses from those rules they would have seatbelts. If it isn't fair and economical the bus companies will fight it all the way.
