Parking ticket or warning?

Question:
I left my car with the blinking lights on by the curb of a mall's parking lot for two minutes. When I returned, there was a ticket left that has no amount specified on it but it says :" the person described above is summoned to appear at court" for parking by fire zone. I had seen the police hanging around before I left but she didnt tell me anything. Is this a warning or a ticket

Answers:

Do you have a "crash-free" driving record?

It is a citation; you have to report to the traffic court to answer the charge against you ("parking by the fire zone"). Since there is no fine checked, the Judge will determine how much you owe (if you are found guilty).

It means you have to go to court. It's a ticket. Parking in a fire zone could have gotten you towed.

I would not say it's not a ticket but an offence you have to appear in court for. Hence you might be able to defend for yourself and not to pay

The police officer was under no obligation to tell you anything. You should have known what you were doing.

In America, why cant a 4 way 'stop' at intersection be replaced by 'yeild' to save time ?

I have absolutely no sympathy for anybody that parks in a fire zone. If your car is there, and a fire breaks out in the building, where do you expect the fire trucks to go, or would you like them to sit idling until you move your car? If somebody has a heart attack, where would you like the ambulance to stop when they come to help? You are summoned to court. There is no amount because the judge is going to tell you the fine after a suitable lecture and warning. Just to let you know, there were cars parked in the fire lane in front of a building I lived in when an alarm went in. A fire truck just bulldozed the cars out of the way. They both had insurance claims denied, and they were sued by the fire department for body damage to the fire engine. In another case a couple of large cars were in between a fire engine and a hydrant . The firefighters smashed out the windows and passed the hoses through because they couldn't walk the hoses around the cars.
