The check light may have nothing to do with the poison in your exhaust. They will still test it yes. My 98 grand am died in the line at the test site and they still wanted to test it. Ha, Ha, it died on the guy three times in the test before he gave up.

i own a shop,and id say they,ll probably check it,why don't you do this,take it to any auto zone and let them scan the computer for it,they can probably tell you if its a sensor,and how to fix it,as well as sell you the needed parts for it also,good luck,i hope this help,s.

That's amazing that they will test it. Most of the time the check engine light indicates an emissions problem. California wont, I'm surprised Illinois will, what's the point of an emissions test then? Of course our vehicles are equiped with different emission equipment than other states are. The smog machine will not do the test if the light is on or has recently been cleared, it's not even the techs choice. hmmm.

Depends on your location. I have a 2 technicians that came from teh same provence. Whenever they did an inspection and the check engine light was on, it was an automatic fail. It all depends on location. Most of the time, the vehicle is hooked up and checked for hard or soft codes. If the vehicle has any, depending on what they are, they are a fail. In Alberta, if a vehicle comes in for an out of provence inspection, and the check engine light is on, it is a fail.

When can you not cross at a crosswalk?

Check your gas cap to make sure it's on right and tight. that may of triggered the check engine light. How is the car running otherwise? Take it to autozone and get it scanned.
