What are the options for my "not stopping at a stop sign" ticket?

Question:
I slowed 90% at a stop sign but didnt stop 100% because it was probably better to keep going. The pavement at the intersection is severly uneven because of tree roots, causing my car to bobble all around. I think that if I would have stopped 100% the car behind me, also bobbling, would have rear ended me. A cop at the the same intersection, who probably saw us bobbling there, pulled me over for failing to stop. What can I do? How much is the fine?

Give us a break with your excuse. "Stop" means "stop," not slow down. You have no options. Pay the fine, or prepare yourself to get a much-deserved stern lecture from a judge.

The local BMW garage uses a bit of inner city dual road as a test track, shall I call the police?

If the sign said stop only 90%, don't pay the ticket.

What do you think of this?

Don't know.but whatever the fine is, it'll probably be cheaper for you to just go ahead and pay it.
(Some tickets have phone numbers you can call and find out how much it will cost.)

you could go to court over it. most cops won't even bother to show at a court hearing and you'll win by default.

the fine is different depending on your city/state laws and what police department ticketed you.

Why do people drink and drive?

your option is to pay it, because you admitted yourself that you did not stop 100%. if the sign says "stop" it does not mean "pause." if the bobbling car behind you hit you in front of the police officer, odds are they would be the ones getting a ticket.

Are you offended by those chrome testicles on the back of pick up trucks ?

if you go to court and plead guilty, you may get a lesser fine. The main issue is that you did not stop. They won't care why.

I received a citation for a parking violation in a state and city I have never been, nor my car. What can I do?

If this is your only ticket over a 3 year period, you can go to court and the judge will dismiss it for a clean driving license. I would also take pictures of this intersection, to bring with you to court.

ask the records department how many tickets were written for stops signs by that officer that day at that location . use as a defense that it was a trap. everybody rolls thru it and its basically a revenue builder for that municipality. or go back to the area and park in a discreet location out of sight and take some pictures.

Should old folks have their driver's license taken from them?

We all know that some road signs are bloody plain silly and pointless, but most are serious, and the consequences of such a presumption may cost you or some other innocent driver their life. Well the dreary first k. If you pull out at a stop sign and a vehicle swerves to miss you, they may hit a vehicle in the opposite lane, you would most likely drive the hell off and whilst they are either seriously injured or in recovery, chances are you wont be remembered. Then consider this. If you pull out at a stop sigh and hit a vehicle, it will most likely be the passenger that gets the surprise. AND, like you there are just so many road users that consider that their children just don't have to wear a seat-belt, especially on the school runs, you want to do something constructive, take a photo of them! So the person behind you hits you from behind? So what? it their fault. REMEMBER... What is behind you, is HISTORY, Whats in-front in the future! Now the sensible thing to do, if you feel the sign is wrong, then take it up with the local authority whom placed the damn thing there and challenge them. There are regulations and planning laws they have to abide to, too. For petty sake, why did you just not stop?

What is the best thing you could possibly do when you lose break control while driving a certain vehichle?

if the driver behind you would have hit you, s/he was technically following too close, and it would have been his/her fault. if you were in a hurry and didn't want to deal with the hassle of an accident, that's your problem, and it doesn't give you the right to break the law. don't mean to sound rude, but this is how i believe the law would see it.
