Which common, household substance is used by car thieves to smash car windows?

Question:
I remember watching a documentary about car theft, in which the program makers claimed that a readily available household substance, when thrown at a car window, would shatter the window completely, in a manner far more effective than, for example, using a hammer to attempt to smash the window in. I realise people may be reluctant to identify the substance (the programme makers, understandably, would not) but can anyone tell me what it is, or, at least, verify that it exists? Is this a myth, or does it really work? Have car manufacturers taken any steps to modify their glass to prevent such attacks?

I was broad sided by a car and want to know how fast the car was going when it hit me.?

How about aresol lighter gas when you spray the butane sraight from the can it will freeze the glass then just give it a tap and your away with a nice new motor, by the way i know where you live!

I got in a car accident. You tell me if its my fault.?

Anything with a point. A screw driver, pocket knife small stone with rough edges. The glass is made to shatter so all you have to do is start it.

Why do people still drive cars that have been bashed in?

Yep, the glass is made to shatter into small, square, pieces rather than sharp shards of glass. It will not break any other way. If you throw a brick at it, it will break into small pieces. If you hit it with a hammer, small pieces, if you try drilling a hole in it, small pieces... See where I'm going with this?? Safety glass comes in two forms. One piece as its in the car. And tiny pieces. The windshield is similar, but is laminated so it will shatter but the pieces will stay together.

Is having your permit a more of a threat while on the road?

brick in the cornner of the window or if you have a nice moter then the car will be gone in under 5 min and have a new owner in under 48 hrs but if you have a rubish car but with nice wheels then you will wake up and find your car on bricks but you can buy anti theft parts like anti theft wheel nuts imobuliser it al depends on how devoted to your car you are you can also buy impact resistant windows but they are exspensive

Why do streetlamps always turn off whenever I walk under them??

Ceramic, the white casing on spark plugs is meant to work well. You can buy film to protect it but i don't think car companies fit as standard yet. A lot of the emergency services have it fitted as they are strangely prone to idiots chucking stuff at their windscreens when they are en route to save someones life.
