Whats the difference between pickup, light-truck/ suv, and sedan safety requirements?
it doesn't work that way. but they sure should build something like that and put it in all cars since they are responsible for 99% of all accidents according to the national safety council. What's the difference between 'burglary of a motor vehicle' and 'auto-theft'?
Nope, another law will not help truckers avoid wrecks. I drive for a company that is slowly getting rid of its Eaton Vorad Anti-collision Radar on all company equipment. According to one of the company shops, the company is getting rid of the system, due to liability issues. Is it illegal to have sex in a car while driving on the freeway?
Smart cruise is a tool. It has to sense the object in front of them & then it will slow the vehicle down gradually. It still takes a driver using his/her common sense to know when to use the brake & when not to. It is great out on the open road when you gradually come up on someone & you don't realize it, but it is a pain when you come up on someone & try to pass with the cruise on. In addition, any type of cruise control is not recommended in slick conditions & it eats too much fuel in hills &/or mountainous areas.
Do you call 911 when you drive and some maniac driver zigzags between every car in sight?
What would reduce accidents between large trucks & 4 wheelers is more education of the motoring public. They need to understand that large commercial vehicles cannot manuever as quickly & efficiently as a passenger vehicle. If the motoring public would practice safer driving techniques, they would see the results in a lower insurance rate & being more relaxed when they arrive at their destination. Instead of passing laws against truckers, states need to get tougher on repeat offenders of all vehicle types.
It's not the truck drivers to watch out...There job is driving 24/7 and they do it much better than any other person that doesn't drive for their money
