What do you think about teens driving?

Question:

Answers:

CA driving test? behind the wheel.. what do i need to know?

it's very dangerous.
they don't have the maturity to understand the responsibility.
lots of wrecks, accidents & deaths due to this.
but as a society we have decided to let them because we don't want to have to drive them around any more...

I have an itch - can u itch it?

I don't think they sould be able to drive until they are old enough to get insurance under their own name.

Placement of multiple car seats, where to put them?

give them a toy car and stay off the freakn road!

Is there a map of all the dsa driving test centres at a glance?

well - they should drive since i started as a teen, however, they should not be 'given' or handed cars that are way to powerful for them and they should be restricted to when and where and how many passengers.. the highways are a lot different now with so many cars on the road. but they do give them some independence and help teach responsibility.

Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge?

Theres nothing wrong with their driving... honestly... because eventually you will be exposed to driving, regardless of you age. When did teenagers always get into accidents? because the law sets age of driving is 16+, teen age is the age it starts, that why accidents happen during that age range.
rather, if the law sets driving age up to 26+ instead of 16+, then the accident range might as well goes to age 26-30...
I really dont think its anything bad, rather its the parent's fault to buy them sport vehicles and high perforamance engine instead some something like a Corolla or Civic...

Am I the only person who switches on the car headlights while driving on the road and it gets dark?

Easy question. Everyone has been cut off on the highway by a teenager who is driving the sports car. He is bound to kill you and himself.

I've had my car vandalized a couple of times.I'm considering getting a car alarm. Is this a waste of money?

It depends on the kid. I know 12 year olds that can responsibly handle multi-ton trucks, dozers, loaders, tractors and other heavy equipment. I also know 40 year olds that scare me to death behind the wheel of a tiny little car. I don't think age has much to do with it.

Have you tried the spray you put on your number plate which makes it invisible to speed cameras?

I started driving pickups at about 9 on the ranch. Tractors we started on earlier.

Have you ever..?

My husband started driving a semi when he was 8 because his father told him it was only for hay hauling. So he started the truck, drove it to the field, stacked 4 levels of hay on it and drove it back to the yard. When he was 11, he was driving that same truck 50 miles to deliver hay. His older brother was the "official" driver, but he was afraid to drive the loaded truck. So the 11 year old drove the loaded truck and the 16 year old drove it back empty.

Why is weed the only thing that helps me not speed on the freeway?

They never had a problem. But those are rural kids. Not small acreage kids, real working farm/ranch kids. They learn to run equipment young and know what they can handle and what they can't.

Why are there no commercials on tv for the green x code?

So, if you're an urban kid, you'll probably make me nervous. If you're a farm kid that's been running heavy equipment since you were old enough to be able to reach the levers, I'm not too concerned.

What is the age & weight minimum for a child in California not to be required to use a booster seat?

Question about 3 point turns...?

There are lots of crazy people on the road.
My parents didn't get taught half the stuff that people have to know and pass these days. My Dad wasn't even taught how to park for example.

What is the law in your state?

I think EVERYONE should have to re-sit their test every 5 years or do a mini-test every year or something. Everyone picks up bad habits and people who have been driving longer more-so. Although younger people are more likely to drive fast or take risks but not all, and lots of adults do this. I think people should give them a break.

Question about learner drivers, UK/USA?

The leading cause of death for 16-22 year olds is automobile crashes. The next four causes:homicide,suicide,accide... poisonings and ALL forms of cancer do not add up to the number killed in car crashes.
Let's stop calling them accidents, those are crashes caused by distractions, poor driving,speeding,etc...
I can't stand it when a TV reporter says that the vehicle flipped, crashed, etc.the DRIVER crashed the car,not the other way around.

What should you do if your car spins out while you are driving?

I think it is ok for them to drive as long as they are focused on driving. And not focused on Text Messaging, Talking on their Cellphones or fiddling around with the music dials. Doing all that is wrong when you are driving. They could get into a serious car accident. If they leave all of that alone I have no problem with them driving.

Car seat laws in California?

There's a reason I waited till I was 22 to get my license.

Is this illegal?

My mom drove a school bus for 14 years. She saw too many teens get killed less than 1 mile away from school because of showing off or whatever. As a teen I was terrified to get my license because I had a friend die behind the wheel, not to mention the stories mom told about some kids getting killed behind the wheel or were killed by a wreckless teen driver. She also felt that the drivers ed classes were not good enough in order for the students to become truly good and safe drivers.
I didn't get my license until I was in my mid-20s and had a job so I could afford to pay for the insurance and basic car care myself. I didn't go to a driving school to learn, my mom taught me. I've had my license for 7 years and have maintained a clean driving record...ie...no tickets, no wrecks, etc. I live and work near Houston, Texas, so you know I don't drive in light traffic conditions.
Quite frankly, I don't think anyone should be allowed to drive until they can prove that they:
1) Are mature enough to realize that driving a car is NOT a game and are mature enough to handle the responsibilities that go along with driving.
2) Are safe and responsible behind the wheel.
3) Can handle ALL vehicle expenses themselves without constantly having to rely on the parents to pay for it.
