Question:
twice (in the same spot), my car has swayed a bit but didn't hit anything. it's a rav4. the turn I can't handle is one that is on a decline, and I think it's because you have to brake before you turn. or I'm not sure why. I handle it by skipping that turn and taking a different one. I wouldn't go out at all but those times I was kind of ordered to by an employer. (In retrospect I should have been just as insistent for my pov)
Answers:
What is the best way to stop real quick with anti lock brakes?
The main thing whenever driving on snow is not the accelerating it is the stopping, Make sure you are going "granny" slow before you turn or you risk slipping. Take the Rav on an empty parking lot and see how it responds that way you will know how fast too fast is.Under average driving conditions how long will new tires lasts?
Just slow down and you will be fine..Poll/ how many would attempt to go to work in bad snowy ice weather?
braking and turning are too much for the limited amount of traction offered in the snow , do one or the other , not both , and do anything very gradually , accelerating , braking , turning . try just letting off the gas and then start your turn and gradually accelerate coming out of it , this will take advantage of a tendency of fwd. to pull you through a corner. good luckCan our 10 year old be in the front seat with an front air bag?
Basically slow down. Your Rav4 is front wheel drive so the you will have a tendancy to oversteer causing the rear end to spin sideways going into the corner. Slow down sooner, use a lower gear, and do not slam on the brakes.More Questions & Answers ...
