Question:
My 3 year old has been in the center rear seat of the car (in her car seat). In a few days, I am expecting my next little girl. I know that you are supposed to place the carseat in the rear center for the safety, but what do you do when you have multiple car seats to place? Do I put each by a door, move the 3 year old next to a door with the baby in the middle (or vice versa)? I want the safest placement for each child but want other opinions from experienced persons. Thanks!!

If it is dangerous to drive after drinking, the shy there are parking spaces provided to bars?
By virtue of being rear facing the newborn is the safest passenger in the car - so you could keep your 3 year in the center and put the newborn rear facing next to the 3 year old. While that is the safest for accident protection, in my car it would not have been safest for everyday driving conditions because my 2 year old would have been poking out the eyes of the newborn if they had been that close. How to make driving in the sun easier?
My youngest is behind the passenger and oldest behind the driver. My 2 year old is still rear facing (he is 28 pounds and his seat goes to 33 pounds rear facing) and having him behind the passenger gives the driver's seat the ability to move freely. I like to get my 2 year old in first and then I can get my 4 year old in and be right at the driver's door.
How do you feel about drivers on hand held cell phones?
Most parents of more than 1 have to put both children outboard which is safe - especially if you have a safe vehicle (www.informedforlife.org - for safety ratings) and your seats are installed properly (according to the manual and no more than 1 inch of movement at the belt path) and used properly EVERY TIME (no bulky coats, snug straps, rear facing until the max of the seat).
Do I need a provisional drivers license to operate a forklift..?
Congratulations on your expanding family!
It honestly depends on what kind of car/van you have. My advice is to contact a CSI tech. They will inspect the car seat for both your toddler and your newborn and tell you where the best place to put them in your car/van. They will also install them for you and make sure they are as safe as they can be. More then 95% of car seats in the US are installed incorrectly!
You want to have the least protected child (in this case, a forward-facing 3-yr old) in the most protected space (in this case - the center).
