I feel safest going the speed of traffic, regardless of what the signs say. I don't know that having no limits is the best idea... I'm picturing a bit of a free-for-all, but I definitely think some limits are unreasonable given the conditions of the road. Perhaps 'recommended speeds' would be better. And cops could still make money for the state/city by ticketing tailgaters.... I'd bet money that tailgaters cause more accidents than speeders.

The point of the speed limit is to keep people safe. With the speed limit in place, people that drive so fast and recklessly can be held accountable for endangering their safety and the safety of others. I doubt if we should totally abolish speed limits, but perhaps instead set the speed limits at more reasonable speeds (higher ones) that the roads were designed for.
