Serious Question: Kids-Seatbelts-Schoolbusses?

had this happen before. the light only comes on if you have a fluid leak(usually) unless you have abs.anti lock brakes.if your emergency brake works(dont laugh not all do from lack of use and rust)pump the brake by repeatedly pulling the ebrake handlee as you would push on the brake pedal(same idea just using a handle rather than a pedal(.if you have the pedal type pump it as you would your brakes to slow down.if the ebrake fails let off the gas pedal and start down shifting from second to low then when at slow enough speed put the vehicle in park(had to do that myself)at speeds less than 15 mph should work as long as not on a hill.remain calm.and try to get out of the flow of traffic and to the shoulder of the road or if not possible to the median.use you emergency flashers as well.

Why do DRIVE THROUGH atm machines have brail?

apply the parking brake as hard as you can as the emergency brake is not a hydraulic ssytem and will function even if the hydraulic system malfunctions. the next step is to downshift. you can do this even in an automatic vehicle by simply putting the car into the next gear down. most car will have a D or D4, followed by D3, 2, 1. these are gears, and shifting into them allows the to use it's compression to slow the vehicle down, aka "engine braking." so keep shifting down into these gears as soon as the car will let you. obviously you wanna get to 1 as soon as possible as it provides the most braking. after you got that under control just try and find a way not to hit anyone else on the road.

I haven't driven an automatic since I was in high school, but if your vehicle happened to be an automatic, I'd probably shift into neutral and coast until you're slow enough to downshift into 2, then 1 if necessary & probably shut off the engine to stop.

All this is assuming you have enough clear roadway ahead of you to do this. If in traffic, probably downshift as quickly as possible to gain space and go off road if necessary.

Driving problem.please help?

don't panic, get over to the side of the road as soon as possible, gear down and let the engine slow you down, pull off the side of the roadand park it. Call a tow truck. In some cars the emergency brake is mechanical but it only goes to the rear wheels, so it would give you limited braking, assuming your brake shoes aren't completely worn out.
