Why is the state not keeping track of auto accidents on roads each day?

Some 50 years ago Heurst used to publish the death toll on the highways each day in his news paper. Lets revive this practice so we can see just how lethel our love affair with our autos are. More killed in auto accidents than in Iraq.

If the states were to keep track of every detail of accidents, your taxes would go up. Since Bill Clinton left office our national debt has risen. The federal government has cut back on payments to the states, so the states would have to bear the entire load of a new program.
