Installing tire chains...?

Question:
I have a front wheel drive minivan. When installing chains, is it necessary (or a good idea) to install on the rear wheels as well?

Answers:

Does putting your car in free gear reduce control during braking?

I assume you are using the chains on severely icy surfaces. If this is the case it will help you stop better if they are on all 4 wheels. I run snow tires on all 4 wheels on my 2 wheel drive vehicles for better turning traction and stopping traction.

Light Cars and lots of rain don't make a good mix?

Chains will work the same way, BUT they are enough of a pain that I would not likely run them on all 4 wheels unless it is an emergency run to a hospital or something. Better to stay home until the roads are fit to drive on.

i think all auto manufacturers should be required to install alcohol detectors in their cars...maybe that?

No. Chains are just for temporary extra grip on the driving wheels.

Are studded tires allowed in Florida?

you can but they only realy need to be on the drive wheeles.
