Who can tell me how to get my town to repair the faded street signs?
I was heading westbound in the North tube of the Lincoln tunnel in the early morning after a night out in New York City. The left lane of the tunnel was closed to traffic, so all of the traffic was on the right and crawling along bumper to bumper. I was driving a 1972 Dodge Coronet, considered a mid-sized car for its time, but gigantic by today's standards. As I approached the end of the tunnel the traffic eased up and I started to accelerate when BAM, I was hit from behind at high speed by a drunk driver driving a Z car. This fine fellow had decided that the empy lane was his own personal highway. He entered the lane and accelerated, sideswiping several other cars on his way. When he came to the end of the tunnel he ran out of room and had no place to go but up my butt. I was pushed into the car ahead of me and bounced off, winding up on the exit ramp for Weehawken, NJ. I realized that the engine was dead and I couldn't restart the car. I got out and there was gasoline all over the road. The back of the car was destroyed and the gas tank was crushed. The driver's seat was actually broken from the force of the impact. Fortunately, I had my seatbelt on and was not seriously injured. I walked back to where the jerk was who rammed me and he and his passenger were already being attended to by the cops. Neither had been wearing their seatbelts. Both had hit the windshield and their faces were covered with blood. I don't know what happened to them after that and I don't care. I had whiplash for a few days after that, so I go off easy, but that was the end of my Dodge. Please help with new car seat law?
A Guy from this town and a Lady were out a few years ago drinking like there was going to be a shortage. They left in her very sharp GMC pick/up. About 9 miles out of town on a little narrow road.he hit a bridge with the truck...totaled truck, put her in the hospital where she almost died...he went to jail...was accidentally released ( mistake by local cops ) he headed straight for Mexico where he has been ever since because there is a warrant out for his arrest in the US . I understand he has health problems and " sneaks" in once in a while to see US Doctors.but what a way to live !Briefly, yes I know someone that was affected by drunk driving. Two cars were involved. Both drivers are dead. Two families live with the painful loss. The real sad part, over 14 thousand people die each year in the USA as a result of elevated alcohol use, and this is 100% preventable!
If you could choose a speed limit for driving cars, what would it be?
